I keep reading the letters written to me

Absorbing each word

In complete awe

That random ink spots created such a work

I keep reading the letters written to me

By those cherished in my soul

And wondering

Just how they keep making me cry

Fat drops of salty water

Racing down the pores of my cheeks

Just to pool and blot the pages

I keep reading the letters written to me

Because they hold nostalgia

Of a time that is no longer obtainable

But can now be reframed

To only reflect a nirvana of joy

I keep reading the letters written to me

In hopes of preserving

Short lived relationships

That have already decayed

Short lived relationships

With the fragility

Of a cherry tree
