Why does anyone have to be alone in order to preserve their heart?

When the light that shone
your forward path

Only accentuates the shadows

Casts clear the empty seats
around you

Around you there stands

Wounded only by your own hand
beat the others to the punchline

You shine that light downwards

At your feet to keep from stumbling

Over your words
the icey slope
gives way to daggers

They throw them at your back

To fell your body to make one more
non human
non living
non social
solitary volunteer
voluntarily soliatry in a self made world of confinement

Because that light that shone the shadows

Is the same light that attracts the people

The capricious
the false
the uncaring

The hidden coals unseen
