Roadkill

You took to heart what they said about me, didn't you?

You did not even try to find out if it was true

I am sure that I am the one to blame

First you loved me then in time it wasn't the same

You pushed me in the corner alone and left me

The tears I cried you pretended not to see

I got caught in your fake headlights

Left me for roadkill with a squeal of delight

My heart is like a rabbit trapped in your snare

Can not get away even though I know you no longer care

I thought our love was sailing along so well

Then you took the wind right out of our sails

You set me out into the rough loneliness sea

As you drifted away slowly and silently from me
