Truest lies

Bled from my heart

Peeling away

Like paint on my soul’s wall

My conscience

Shedding its moral fabric

In turn

I see life anew

My conscience

Thins as it sheds

Its moral fabric

Falls away

The drain

It circles around

Washed away into the depths

A flood tide

Gone away

Is the burden of my dilemma

Am I a better person now?

To have shed the weight . . .

Is bearing the burden necessary?

To live as a decent human being . . .

Is the blood I bleed sacrificial?

For the goodness or evil in my soul . . .

In search

Of the righteousness I once honed

Empty vases

That once held beauty

Dark corners

Where the truth lies

In the corner

I bleed

Slumped over

Searching for the answers

Tormented by their truths

I cry

I plead

For the burden I once felt

Let me be human again
