Same old shit

I'm so sick of knowing nothing will change--we'll see some serious-looking politician for the next few days look into the camera and say, "This is an unspeakable tragedy, but now is not the right time to talk about gun control,"or, what I heard Florida Governor Rick Scott (R, of course) say, "we're studying the incident..." What's there to study, Rick? A loser walked into a high school, pulled the fire alarm, and waited until he had his pick of targets, and opened fire with an assault rifle that, because of you and your fellow heartless money-sucker politicians, was available to the general public.

I'll ask again, what the hell's there to study?' Quit with your pathetic meaningless platitudes, like, 'Our thoughts and hearts go out to the victim's families," what else are you going to say, besides the usual meaningless shit? Then the NRA will release a statement saying it's not their fault. Well, who the f***'s fault is it, then? The victim's, who didn't think enough to wrap themselves in head-to-toe metal sheeting before they left the house? I'll hear all about gun owners rights. Bullshit, what about a citizen's right to go somewhere without having to worry about getting shot, and by an assault rifle, that no average citizen has any ration reason to possess. Enough insincere talking and 'studying the problem. Do your f*****g jobs, and put people ahead of killing machines.

What change are you proposing?

I think banning John Q. Public from owning a military-style assault rifles would be a good start. I've heard the argument 'but I need it to protect my family,' wouldn't a traditional single shot rifle or handgun do that? And what, are you going to go hunting for your food with an assault rifle? They're only good for one thing, killing as many people as possible, and there's no need for a non-military person to have one. Your argument is once you allow one right to be taken away, it's a slippery slope. Bullshit, that's paranoid nonsense

Explain to me why that's bullshit. Everyday you seem to be paranoid about President Trump becoming a dictator.

It's bullshit because you assume the government's coming for your guns--nobody said anything about taking your guns--the minute anyone suggests any common-sense gun legislation, such as background checks, you 2nd-amendmenters scream that it's only the beginning, that pretty soon, the government overlords will be at your door, demanding to be let in to search for weapons. It's NRA thinking--figuring that all they have to scream is 'gun control/slippery slope,' and gun owners will freak. It's like they're blowing Pavlov's dog whistle, and all the gun owners will rise up. Frankly, it's paranoia, hence my comment to A.S.

It's not paranoia. You literally said that you want to ban all assault rifles and I presume you support banning semiautomatic weapons as well even though a lot of handguns are semiautomatic.

Yep, any possible weapon that can be used to kill a lot of people quickly has no business in the ordinary citizen's hands. I suppose if you are the kind who expects government storm troopers at your door, that would be important to you

If you are worried about weapons that kill in the hands of ordinary citizens then why don't you want to ban handguns? You are not being ideologically consistent.

No, I'm being realistic--a guy starts shooting with a single shot gun can only kill a limited number of people before he's stopped, whereas with a semi or fully automatic, he can kill many more

A guy with multiple handguns that are all loaded can kill just as many people if he is in a place where he is the only one with a firearm.
