He wandered aimlessly down silent, vacant streets

Mist wrenched the air through the after-rainfall heat.

The evening clouds departed to shine the green-soaked moon

His eyes stayed to the road -- though he knew it'd happen soon.

A man in murky shadows and blade of ill intent

Rested on the stranger throat to thieve his coin unspent.

The traveler carried only a tattered, greenish cloak.

He looked into the mugger and, in trembles, spoke:

“You shouldn't stand in way of the dark I understand...

This nightmare of myself: I fear – therefore, I am.”

His worn-out garbs shredded as his truth erupted cries;

A twisted, ghastly form of arms, maws, and eyes.

The man shook in his boots as terror froze his bones,

Unable to comprehend its cursed, unearthly moans.

Claws gripped his limbs and arms dragged him near

To mouths with dagger teeth that tore his flesh to sheers.

The screaming fell to silence 'til dawn's arrival showed

Yet another wicked man as bloodstains on the road.
