The Gate and It’s World

I was walking home from school with my best friend, Jess. We knew to always be at my house before 5:30 pm. My mom is always worried about me ever since my father died. Jess and I were treading home when we saw a large, white gate. I had never seen this gate before. It was a very luxurious gate. I do live in a very high end neighborhood so having this gate was not out of the ordinary. Although, I had not seen the gate when I went to school this morning. After half an hour of questioning the gate, Jess and I decided to enter the gate. Right before we entered the gate my mom texted me saying she was worried. She was wondering when Jess and I would be home. In case I didn’t mention this, Jess lived with me and my mother. My father and her parents died in a car crash one year before we found the gate. I was about to text my mom saying we were, “going to a friends.”  Once we went through the gate, my phone shut off.

When we entered the gate, we entered a new world, everything was white. The animals, the plants, everything. Jess and I were very skeptical about the whole situation. We had decided to explore this new ‘world’.  We looked around and found a pool. We decided to take some time to forget about our problems. A few hours went by, I started to feel something was wrong. I told Jess that we should find somewhere to stay. We looked around for about 15 minutes and found a small, but slightly luxurious cabin. Like I described, this ‘world’ was entirely white, no colors. We stayed in the cabin overnight. I still felt like something was going to go wrong. I could not tell time because my phone shut off, but I feel like we fell asleep at midnight. My phone was at 96% when it shut off. It was almost like this ‘world’ fried it.

Waking up the next morning, I still felt something was wrong. I turned my head to see Jess petting two white dogs. I thought, “No big deal” then, one of the dogs started growling at an old rocking chair, as if it was threatening. The chair started to rock violently. That is when I got the feeling Jess and I needed to leave. We searched for the gate so we could leave. After three hours of searching I saw the gate in the distance. It seemed like it was about 15 miles away. Jess was behind me. I looked behind me just to make sure she was keeping up. Then I saw a faceless man in an all black suit following us, which was odd because, this world was all white. I whispered, “Jess, don’t look behind you. Just run.” Knowing Jess for being defiant, she looked back, once she did, the man started running...fast. I screamed, “Jess! Run!” We ran like our lives depended on it, at the time I thought they did. Jess and I were running so fast we felt like our hearts were going to jump out of our chests. When we were right in front of the gate, I tried to open it, but it was locked. Just our luck. Jess and I had 2 choices, risk our lives, or climb the gate. We started to climb the gate. Once I reached the top of gate I turned around to make sure the man was not climbing the gate. This faceless figure’s “face” started to melt into a familiar face, my dad’s. I almost cried. I was about to jump over the gate when the man said, “Ann… I love you.”

Once Jess and I jumped over the gate and got a few feet away. The gate started turning black, growing vines, and looking very old and rusty. It definitely did not look luxurious anymore. Then, the gate tumbled to the ground.

When Jess and I got home, no time passed by. We were frozen in time.

Jess and I are now juniors in high school. People doubt this happened, but we know it is the truth.
