We are three sisters
Of our individual guise
Dare not look upon one
Lest to see we three in all
Tramps b’neath the night
Rovers of the empty countryside
Turn tail and flee
Whence you see we three arrive
Enwrapped in the dark arts
Satiated by blood for our master
Come nearer no further
Lest you bear your soul to take
A crow’s feather
A newt’s eye
A raven’s talon
A worm’s guts
Robbers we are
Of dead men’s graves
Tall tales spun
To keep you away
Leave us well alone
Or be struck by consequence
Be a warty, ugly toad
Or a soulless servant hence
We are three sisters
Of our individual guise
Say the Lord ’s Prayer if you wish
It may quicken your demise

A creepy, atmospheric poem. Strange how often witches appear in threes. One of my favorites and the pic is perfectly chosen.
Thank you, Hully. This piece was written for the pick; I've had it sitting on my computer since October and finally came up with something for it! It is an odd occurrence, especially since a coven is usually comprised of thirteen witches, but three is what's popularly depicted. Easier for writers and artists to manage?
Thank you for giving it a read. The format didn't turn out how it's intended, but it doesn't take anything away from the words.
Cool! You should consider making this into a short story. Your poem leaves the reader wanting more.
Thank you! I greatly appreciate it. I am finishing up a short story involving a witch right now actually, though it's going to be a far cry from traditional witch tales.
Thank you for reading and leaving such a wonderful comment! It's brightened my day! :)
I love the eerie concept of your poems. And you do such great narratives. The build up is always your best skill. Excellent, my friend.
Ooh, this was wicked awesome , I love it !! Like the pic you chose for the cover, too!
