Fly, Be Free

You were that bird.

You were free. Yourself. Loving.

You had faith and hope in spite of great storms

You were that bird.

“Why did the caged bird sing?

Dearest lark, your song no longer rings clear,

Your wings are a flight with the angels above.

God needed your song;

You are Free.

You are Free.

Free from your cage, free from your storms.

Free to let your song echo into the horizon.

We miss you, sweet bird. But worry not.

We are happy, happy you can finally sing.

Why did you sing, caged bird?

Because you must. You had to sing.

You had to sing or you would have nothing.

Lovely bird, you sang for freedom,

For Knowledge. For God.

You sang for yourself.

We will never forget your song, sweet bird.

But now we must sing.

We will sing.

Our cages will trap us but our storms will pass.

We will sing forever, loud, clear, for God. With love.

And one bright day, the horizon will shine.

And there will be no more cages.
