Day after day

The gleaming sun rises

Always there

Without fail

With no surprises

Day after day

The moon shines down

On valleys below

Always with perfect tempo

And never once a letdown

And then one day

The sun doesn’t rise

As it did before

Everyone’s in uproar

And crowds shout to the skies

People in horror

Yet where was their concern

When all was good

But the chance still stood

That everything they knew would burn

They took it for granted

That the sun would rise again

And never a thought

Of an onslaught

Or something else’s reign
