Evlynn Marie Reinke née Mahoney aka Evlynn M. Reinke aka Evlynn Reinke, 63, of 3 Tyne Court, Kendall Park, New Jersey 08824-1424, died Saturday 26 February 2011 4pm at Saint Peter's University Hospital, 254 Easton Avenue, New Brunswick, New Jersey 08901 from kidney failure as a result of a 36 year battle with chronic Type 1 diabetes.

Born 1 July 1947 and raised in Bayonne, she had lived in Kendall Park since 1976.

When she was at Holy Family Academy, 239 Avenue A, Bayonne, New Jersey 07002 she was part of their basketball dynasty. During her four years playing career, HFA lost the the parochial state championship game in her freshman year and captured the crown for the next three years. After graduating HFA in 1965, she went to work for AT&T but still played basketball, her passion, in the Bayonne Tavern leagues. She often said that she was born two decades too soon. Even after a career ending quad calf muscle separation, two weeks before her wedding, she still managed to gamely hobble down the aisle. And, always had a sharp eye for a devastating deep corner shot that won her many a game of horse against her husband's over-confident male friends.

She left AT&T to follow her husband to the National Security Agency (NSA) in Fort Meade, Maryland when he decided to become a zoomie in the USAF (Ferdinand got a Joint Service Commedation Medal "for the computer representation of non-English non-Cyrillic languages" which explains the mysterious ref elsewhere to ?????? S?w?s?d?), then returned to New Jersey.

She worked at Weldotron Corp., 1532 South Washington Avenue, Piscataway, New Jersey, 08854-3947, rising from clerk to Accounting Manager. During that time, she also coached the Saint Augustine Grammar School (3920 New York Avenue, Union City, New Jersey 07087) girls' team for 13 years. She loved "her girls" and, not surprisingly, one year they went 28-1; she described them as "her dream team". When Weldotron finally closed its doors due to foreign competition, she retired. Diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in 1975, she eventually had to give up coaching to deal with her worsening health problems. She always missed "the girls".

After that, she spent her time helping her extended family and dealing with health issues. Always the "energizer bunny", few, outside her close circle, knew just how much of a battle she fought.

Daughter of the late John Edward Mahoney aka John E. Mahoney aka John Mahoney and the late Margaret Mahoney aka Peggy Mahoney née Gavin, sister of the late John E. Mahoney Jr., sister of Marjorie Ann Decker née Silvay, niece of Katherine Marshall née Gavin of Bayonne.

She is survived by her husband Ferdinand John Reinke, Jr. aka Ferdinand John Reinke aka Ferdinand J. Reinke aka Fjohn Reinke (born Oregon 1947) of 40 years; Inwood transplant, Church of the Good Shepherd, 608 Isham Street, New York, New York 10034 and Good Shepherd School, 620 Isham Street, New York, New York 10034.
