Lâii had grown up surrounded by her fellow Ixaili- shapeshifting earthen protectors- and they all had lived in peace. But after an attack from mortals leaves their tribe devastated, and kills their
leaders, she takes it upon herself to try to fix things. One of the late leaders of the tribe, Ahqutl, had a son, a legendary figure she had heard so much about growing up. Quñaii, the lost healer.
He would be the next in line for leadership, but no one knew where he was after the attack. Desperate, she ventures off in search of Ahqutl’s son, but when she finds him, he’s far from what she
expected. In a story of high-fantasy and magic, two young disabled queer warlocks must work together while they struggle with identity, faith, and culture following tragedy and war.
