Tap.

Click.

Céleste started her recording. She didn't speak. She just casually crouched down next to Mint's bound body, staring deadpan with either a smile or a poker face, and played her recordings. It's the only way she spoke to him. Mint heard her voice upstairs; quiet mumbles would sound from above while she recorded herself to later play.

Céleste was more than just reluctant -- it appalled her to speak. It was a fear. She knew she had a voice, but couldn't find it when confronted with others.

Tap.

Click.

Céleste paused the recording and re-winded. She gave Mint an accusatory look. He hadn't listened. He nodded, giving her the cue to play it. There was an unspoken communication done through gestures and facial expressions. It was strange. Céleste did her tap click again.

"I guess I've always been like this." The recording started with this statement followed by a chuckle, "My first big crime was a murder back in primary. It was a little boy my own age. His blood settled quickly, and he had screams like sirens. I am disgusted by such a thing now, but back then I was only eight."

Céleste moved closer and smiled nonchalantly.

"Could you blame me? The law didn't."

Her recording stopped.
