Nevermore

Clouds of black blanket the sky,

Thunder rumbling flashing with light,

As rain pours down on this desolate day,

With the cawing of ravens at my window,

Looking down upon me with black eyes,

As each piece of my soul slowly dies,

I look to them with jealousy on my face,

Wishing a part of them instead of the human race,

But I cannot be free,

For the chains of Hell bind me,

And I sleep in the dark,

Where the nightmares still haunt me.

Nightmares and pain of decades past,

Plague me yet still I last,

Insanity becoming my true friend,

When sanity left me in the end,

Still the ravens caw at my window,

Looking down upon me with black eyes,

That holds my soul as it dies,

Each day exiled from the caress of freedom,

Wishing to be a part of its kingdom,

But I cannot be free,

For the chains of Hell bind me,

And I sleep in the dark,

Where the nightmares still haunt me.

Tormented from every angle,

And within there my life will dangle,

There on a thread it will wait,

Until cut by The Sisters of Fate,

Yet the ravens still caw at my window,

Looking down upon me with black eyes,

Within my soul lies,

Still waiting for that since of freedom,

That beautiful miraculous kingdom,

But I cannot be free,

For the chains of Hell bind me,

And I sleep in the dark,

Where the nightmares still haunt me.

Laughing in mockery,

My mind now its own anarchy,

Corrupting the very soul,

That waits for the deathly gallows,

There the ravens will still caw at my window,

Watching me with black eyes,

Where my soul lies,

Where I will taste freedom,

Walk with it in its kingdom,

Where I will be free,

The chains of Hell no longer bind me,

And I will sleep in the dark,

Where the nightmares haunt me nevermore.

There's something about those ravens isn't there! A poem of anguish, torment and nightmares. Good job, Reaper.
