Tree’s surround the blackened angel warrior as he appeared in the realm known by the Watcher as Shadowlurker. The wind whistles through the trees as Volstael takes in his first breath in this world.

“So, this is Earth, eh?” He asks aloud as he strokes his silky black hair with his fingertips, “It doesn’t look like much. I wonder why the Watcher sent me after this one.” He steps forward, his first step making a loud crunch as he plants on the ground. Volstael, lifting his foot, sees the sticky mess of a mutilated snail on his boot. He rubs it off onto the grass next to the shelled massacre before walking deeper into the forest.

“I need to find him. I know he is here somewhere. I can sense his dark aura nearby.” Volstael says aloud, still searching for the warrior chosen by the Watcher. After a few minutes of searching, he see’s somebody kneeling next to a tree. Volstael’s silent steps fool the man hunched down next to the wooden skyscraper. Redwood trees are one beauty this world holds, Volstael thinks to himself as he scans the area around the two of them.

“Who is there? Has Death come to take me finally?” the man says as he stands up, turning around to face Volstael. There appears to be a small shrine of sorts decorated with human bones and skulls within the tree.

“Diazo, you can call me Volstael. All you need to know is that we have work for you. You need to come with me. Right now, actually, are you ready?” Volstael asks, without any explanation.

“What requires my assistance? Is it a mission from Death or possibly Queen Izanami?” Daizo askes in reply. Daizo is a firm believer that Death is his one true Lord. Volstael rubs his head in frustration as he questions the Watchers thoughts on this choice.

“Look, the one who calls upon you, is the one Death answers to. So, without any further delay. Let’s go!” Volstael answers as he snaps his fingers.

A moment later Volstael and Daizo appear next to each other in a great castle hall. Daizo looks around but seems to be overall unimpressed.

“What is this place? It looks like a shithole to me.” Daizo asks as he turns to face the dark angel.

“This is The Guardian Watcher’s Hall. It’s the home of the true creator. The one who created your beloved Death. Although I will warn you now, before we get any further.” Volstael answers, “This mission is potentially suicidal, but you will have seven other partners, all of which are hand-picked by the other Watchers. The only thing you need to know is that you will be working with these seven and that the eight of you will need to go deep into dangerous enemy territory to retrieve a stone if great importance. You will be rewarded...IF you succeed.”

“Sounds good. Show me where I need go next then.” Daizo replies back quickly, not hesitating in his response.

“Right this way. To the armoury, we need to gear you up.” Volstael explains as he eyes Daizo up and down, clearly not impressed.

“All I need is this,” Daizo replies as he points to the skull and bone decorated katana on his back, “I don’t know or care what I will face. I will succeed.”

“You are going into this pretty blind, are you sure that’s okay?”

“I don’t care. I’ve dealt with enough powerful beings to know that a reward from a deity is nearly always worth the risk. And besides that, obviously I’m the best or the boss wouldn’t have picked me.” Daizo answers, keeping his calm mentality.

“Cocky, eh? I like that. Just don’t let all of this go to your head. And even if you don’t choose anything, you still need to go to the Armory to gear up, regardless. There is a lot of tools and other equipment that a person like you will be happy to use for a mission like this. Trust me. “Volstael explains before walking ahead.

“Very well. Let us see this armory then'' Daizo answers as he follows the dark angel down the majestic hall of pillars and golden-red décor. Diazo remains silent as he follows the Watcher’s Angel.
