Humanity is coming to an end.

In 2035, K.A.W.V. Biotech pushed modern medicine past its perceived limitations when they developed a process to safely clone human tissue. For centuries, the rich-elite have been using the pricey
method to improve their lives and extend their lifespan – curing illness, replacing lost limbs and even giving babies to those unable to procreate naturally. However, all this does not come without
cost. Repetitive dilution of the building blocks of life has led to a weakness. These "Synthetics," as they are known to the poor of The Wastes, suffer from rapid tissue degradation at a molecular
level, and are almost all now facing death before their time.

In the Wastes, human DNA is an ever more precious commodity.
