With as many teens as we have today being stressed, depressed, bullied, suicidal, or having anxiety, they, and us need some enlightenment. Teens being depressed or suicidal has gone up 50% from 2004-2015. Most studies show it is because of technology. This is shown mostly by cyberbullies. Where bullies need to hide behind a screen to express their feeling towards others to make them feel bad about themselves. It is shown that teens who do not have a cell phone are more likely to be happy.

From my personal experience, I have many friends, peers ect. who are like this. Most say they are just tired, or not having a good day. They are experiencing depression and anxiety from, school, friends, family, boy/girlfriends, or after school activities. Most become overwhelmed with their struggles and just feel like there is nothing else in the world to live for because they are too wrapped up in their little bubble being sad all the time.

One of my friends is sad a lot of the time, after school, during school, on the bus and whenever we are together. She talks about how hard of a time she is having and how she doesn't feel like there is anyway for her to be happy.  She has become this way because of stupid boys, cyberbullies and “fake” friends who always let her down. I have spent so much of my time trying to make her believe there is so much more to life and that she doesn't always have to be this way. I try to convince her of the ways she can be happy and how she can’t dwell on the things that are negative. Many people spend so much time being unhappy that they do not notice, for one, the people around them that they are also making unhappy, and how much they are missing out on.

Many argue that they can not just decide to be happy, but they are wrong. Just get off the freaking couch, your phone, and go and enjoy life and the sunshine and all that could be good. Everyone has so little of time on this amazing planet, who wants to waste by walking with your head down and depressed all the time? That is not what we were created to do, we were created to be happy and do great things. Go out and enjoy the sunshine, the stars, the beautiful nature that we have been provided with.

To be honest I am sick and tired of my friends, acquaintances, or just hearing stories about people who attempt to kill themselves because they are depressed. You hear about it all the time on the news, teens who hang, or cut themselves because they are not happy. My best friend that I have known for all of my life has been harming herself and each night I cry myself to sleep trying to think about what I can do to help her. I know for a fact that she is not that kind of person, but what do I do about it? I have tried and tried to make her see the happiness in the world. She shuts herself away from the rest of the world to get attention.
