The Toronto Maple Leafs are probably happy to finish this last horrendous road trip the team's been on the past two weeks.

Last night, the Leafs lost 5-3 to the struggling Buffalo Sabres.

The Sabres went ahead quickly 2-0 in the first period with goals by Sam Reinhart and Jason Pominville.

Leo Komarov closed the gap 2-1 just eight seconds to go in the period.

This is how Leafs fans are probably feeling now.

Komarov tied the game 2-2 at 10:48 of the second period.

Zenigus Girgensons put the Sabres up 3-2 at 13:30.

Ryan O'Reilly put the Sabres ahead by two goals at 15:35.

Johan Larsson made it 5-2 Buffalo at 9:55 of the third period.

Mitch Marner scored Toronto's third and final goal of the game at 17:57.

Buffalo's Rasmus Ristolamen had two assists.

Ristolamen's teammate, Chad Johnson stopped 38 shots last night.

The Leafs don't play again until Saturday.  Toronto hosts the Pittsburgh Penguins.
