Sunday At The Library

The ghostwriter descends the staircase.

Just there,

Under the steps,

Clinging with claws

To the spiral of the curve,

The foetus shakes

And twitches,

Its scaley skin and gills.

Its umbilical cord leaps

around the library,

Grabbing the throats

Of academics and students.

It gnashes it teeth,

And opens its mouth

To vomit fire and brimstone,

And voice apocalyptic screams,

To spoil the speed reading orgasms

Of the serious readers

Of pornography.
