The Snake

She undresses and whispers

To the silver snake.

Lunging out from their sockets,

The snake's rosette eyes peer,

Then glare from the opening

Of a clay urn.

She reclines on the wooden floorbaoards.

She spreads her flesh

Over the illustrations

Of the undergrowth,

Drawn on the wood.

She is flat on her back,

Her eyes watch the lightbulb for moths.

The snake slithers out of the urn,

Making its way between her slightly

Parted legs,

Till it reaches her entrance.
