This poem is from a child's perspective who lost their father. It shows what her dad will miss over the years. I hope you enjoy it and share it.

The Thin Blue Line

By Brian Clements

My daddy was a member of the Thin Blue Line

He was a policeman.

I am so proud of him

But he will miss so much

Now that he is gone.

He will miss my first scrapes

He will miss my first day of Kindergarten

And my first bus ride

He will miss our fishing and camping trips

I remember how he used to like them.

He will miss my first date

And my first heartache

He will miss my engagement ring

And He will not be able to give me away

He will miss his first grandchild

But that will be a good day.

I will name him after my daddy

Who was a policeman

But we will never be able to do these things

That’s ok.

I am proud of my daddy

Because he was a member of the

Thin Blue Line.
