Other day, my friend said in his own way, “To be own self and live one’s life, wherever you are, you are part of the world. Then you have to communicate irrespective of aesthetics of language”. I
liked it. Whether, be it in a personal, public or corporate domain.

When life is worth living, communication is also part of life-worthy essentials. Language and communication bring every human being back to living. Being educated and had hands-on experience like
the bushman in Kalahari, every astute man can explicitly describe a visualized 3-dimensional picture in the best possible 4 dimensional way. While the mind is the captivity of conscious, language
is the road, and communication is the vehicle, getting connected to an audience is the 4th facet. If all this is done within 2 minutes, then you are connected to an audience.

It can only happen with some people, not all, who have complete, clear, much and deeper feature of the human mind. I call this as a creative venture. If you fall in love with this, you have to
assimilate into creative characters, die and reborn at every beginning and end of story. You have to recalibrate other affiliations, as the love and relationship can gravitate towards this devoted
wisdom.

Fresh and relaxed: After good nocturnal sleep, I can be fresh and at ease to express my thoughts in the precisely explicit way. There is always a relationship exists between a serene state of mind
and communication, physics, and communication, creativity, and suffering in writers and great speakers. We see in 3-dimensional ways and communicate experiences or hypothesis through 4-dimensional
factors. For an ordinary man, Sometimes writing, extempore and reading are boring. Whereat, time is conceived as space. When it comes to outlining particular timeline, space, and human cognizant
process, the descriptive course may be drawn-out and always exceeds quantum of lagom to readers or listeners.

I shall not comment on literature, arts, history or architecture. Every branch of study has its rhetoric and relational panache of communication. But here, I want to concentrate on Indian corporate
communications. As language and communication for leaders of SME are vital to getting connected to consumers, clients, stakeholders, customers, the board of directors and employees. Leaders have to
study assiduously how to tell stories better, and they have to acquire knowledge how to be themselves better if they want to lead in the radical transparency of the modern world. The days have
gone-by for the command and control style of leadership. New leadership has arrived with more sympathetic, emotionally intelligent style, where communication becomes one of the top two skills that
you need to succeed.

The paramount is to interview fresh intellect, the ability to listen uncomplainingly and develop the right strategy for effective communication in simple understandable language. The ability to
understand, motivate and inspire is second most important when recruiting senior leaders.

But such language and communication in the contemporary digitalized world are different, Leaders are not listening, and language languishes as it is shrinking to abstract forms, owing to the
paucity of competitive conversational abilities. One of the reasons is, as meetings are through internet and mobiles with text composed of tiny, moving fragments of information. And simultaneous
conversations begin with no apt openings, does not have defined boundaries and definite endings. If this phase is perpetuated, in near horizon, Indian corporate leader’s language and communication
will become extinct.

The leader is an alpha personality. Great leaders guarantee that the right conversations are taking place right across their businesses; for they comprehend it is those conversations that drive
change and ensure progress. Leaders have to learn how to engage people in and through conversations.

Over 35 years of my consultancy practice, I had interviewed hundreds of CEO, MDs & executives and transcribed that data-essence into more than 500,000 words. I had collectively sorted out 3 words
invariably used by all those leaders i.e. communication, relationships and trust. You cannot lead if you cannot establish relationships of trust, both inside and outside your company with effective
communicative abilities.

As I belong to the old school of thought, I believe that Language is an opening, also a descriptive tool of thoughts and trans-active constituent of human nature. I divide effective communicating
in 5 simple stages. 1. Content 2.clarity 3.free from tangling state of complex mind. 4 getting it through. 5. Make it sure that message is properly understood.

The secret behind effective communication is the practice of reading, writing, and deployment of learned wits into involuntary extempore.

If Indian small and medium enterprise leaders want to be the effective communicator, practice this in early morning hours. Primarily, start to speak or write about abstract forms of space, time and
human minds. These are imaginative existences; require mind's eye to describe. You do not have to speak necessarily in English. The incumbent candidates can practice in any vernacular language. In
south India, many executives conduct meetings in their mother tongue.

I liked Hemingway’s rule; “write and write and love to write, do not worry whether it is master peace or not”. That said, I furnish here my way of learning and survival in 1959-60s. I had lived in
an isolated village, sparsely populated amidst barren lands, spoken an unpolished language, mostly slang, and unembellished limited vernacular words. As there were no schools, I was home-schooled
in bare backwoods and survived two famines. Of course, later on, I had become a well-disciplined alumna of reputed University. Fast-forward 60years, now I am an older and whimsical freelancer.

I was a voracious reader of astrophysics, anthropology, biology, psychology and European history, helped me the great deal. These branches of sciences enabled me to know humankind more vividly and
established a familiar thought pattern to describe the abstract forms. English is not my mother tongue but yet, I am fluent in it in my own way. My only effort and endeavor are bringing life to my
content. I transcribe it to global readers.

There are mistakes like typos, spell-checks and punctuations; sometimes age-related sliding memories and existential angst. Everyone needs an editor, even editor needs editor. There may be
unkeyboardnated mistakes. But, I do not care. My unabated love for reading, writing, and extempore continues. Now, writing and extempore are my side hustle. Writers and speakers have to internalize
and actualize characters to write article/story by building the language chassis, content, special dimensions and happenstance in particular time. It is all spontaneous and singular.

But why I write? Because like me, people do. I practiced and get used to writing over 40 years in 4 south Indian languages and English. So, I write like I speak. My lingo and jargon are more of
regional than global. I do not need and cannot afford someone to look at my articles to correct or edit it. I am not a commercial author, so I will not have any long-term negative consequences. I
am different but not so bad. The same as me, get rid of shame and inhibitions, start practice from the day.

The present generation is lucky in one way because there has been a shifting landscape in communication structure. Various improvement factors have been well upholstered through syllabus, media,
and research.

Back to leadership, the job of a leader is to stimulate others to achieve great results. It sounds simple, but leaders today are operating in an incredibly demanding environment, the difference
between competent communication and inspiring communication can be the difference between poor performance and outstanding results. It is not over. There is a contrarian existence in present Indian
corporate world i.e. Poor communication versus much needed effective communication skills. Today’s businesses are complex entities. However, one fundamental principle of success remains constant –
the need for communication. So leaders should practice and develop as workforces become increasingly multicultural and businesses continue to expand globally if it is to be truly effective.

Effective communication has multiple layers. Effective leaders understand that communication is one of their most potent tools and take care to use spoken words to their advantage. They continually
develop their communication abilities—from strengthening their use of body language and gestures to learning important rhetorical techniques (repetition, comparing and contrasting, use of
rhetorical questions, etc.) to enhance their delivery. So that, a leader can able to persuade others to consider and ultimately embrace his views.

BOTTOM LINE: Weak communication is the inadequacy of leadership. Communication is the combination of language, coherent confidence, and performance before an audience. Competitive conversation
increases interpersonal communication abilities in events, meetings, and interactions with consumers, employees, customers, state holders, investors etc. A speaker required a different kind of
language skills and getting connected with different listeners in different situations. Practice it all, as practice is part of growing up, as age is no bar and does not matter.

Not all people like getting connected with people. It can only happen with some people, not all, who have complete, clear, much and deeper features or understanding of the human mind. Maintain relationship as long as you live is a creative venture. If you fall in love with this "getting connected" and managing a humanly harmonious "relationship", you have to assimilate into creative characters, die and reborn at every beginning of attempt and die at end of a relationship. The good communication skills keep alive relationships.
