Silence.

We are perfect together. There has never ever been a more suited couple. When we’re together, you held in my arms, nothing could be better. To sit close, companionable and silent; what could be more special.

But it’s never enough, is it. You can’t keep it that way but have to let those words intrude, break the peace. What is it this time? Something I’ve let you down with, I’m sure. Some kind of failing on my part.

Your friends go out, go to dances, to clubs, hang out in groups and you feel like you are missing out, big time. But that is not me. I’m not a social person, don’t enjoy the crowds. I like the quiet, the peace and solitude, and most of all, I love holding you.

And if it’s not that, you are pushing for commitment. I’d commit to you any day, but I know it will never be enough. You won’t be content with my idea of life, and I will for ever let you down. Don’t break the moment; there is no need for you to speak those words that will tear up the silence like scissors shredding tissue, knives plunging in and stabbing my piece.

For tonight, just let it be us.
