A Pinch

A run on the beach -- well, there’s nothing so grand,

as to paddle in waves and to dig in the sand.

But wait just a minute; what have I found?

Some kind of creature so tragically drowned.

I’ll move a bit closer, discern the scent,

but ouch, that was painful; I’m sure it was meant.

This creature, it seems in the sea it did thrive

for far from dead, it is very alive.

My nose it is stinging from some kind of pinch,

I’ll slowly approach it, move inch by inch.

It’s quite peculiar, it’s nothing like me,

it’s quite armed and dangerous, that I can see.

They go with a snap, those really sharp claws,

I’ll have to be careful it avoids my paws.

I’ll leave it alone, dig up some other spot,

for another pinch? No, I’d much rather not!
