Strolling along the beautiful country path
I’m all alone and walking with my shadow
Not a soul seems to be in sight, just wrath
of nature taking its toll; and I do know

Far from the self-righteous and smug
I’m lost in the marvel of deep seclusion
Missing not civilization but a warm hug
thrilled to be a part of nature’s inclusion

My heart beats as one with the wild
my mind serene gushing with the streams
The sweet scent of flowers gently mild
colours of wonder with light they beam

I am accorded peace and granted calmness
the pains of the abject world are indeed far
This is where I belong; no undue rashness
I have come home; my receptiveness is ajar

The avuncular benevolence is elephantine
enveloping me like a long lost prodigal son
It may even be like a forsaken valentine
with no betrayal, treachery nor treason

This is the blessed home of all homes
caring and nurturing; so wholeheartedly
It’s grander than the opulence of Rome
always in tune, in time; never belatedly

Deep within I realised I’ve been wounded
scarred and tarnished by wicked humans
And left to crumble, my pains compounded
disused and abandoned in disillusionment

Here in the abode of naturalisation, I’ve come
seeking a lull, revival and revitalisation
Relishing the generous and espousal welcome
and a path to innately chaste rejuvenation

As I walk with my shadow keenly in reminiscence
of all those dark and lonely roads I’ve walked
Since upon my tender days of callous innocence
my witness is this same shadow that stalked
