That face is still in my mind and imagination.
It has haunted me since my high school days
When I lingered in the halls as she ambled by,
It has always been there, that beautiful face…her face.
Her oval face with a wide smile looking my direction,
Telling me at a glance, I was somebody, I mattered.
Her brown eyes and Italian complexion possessed me.
Oh, that wonderful, wonderful face…her face.
Her face framed with dark, straight hair covering
Her ears, thick and bouncy as she walked by,
Turning to give me the eye, “Does she like me?”
I loved that sweet, angelic face…her face.
Will her face still play before my eyes at the end of
My days, when I rest alone to sleep on my last pillow
Not being to able to speak a word but hearing anyway,
In my mind, that face…that face…that marvelous face!
