Moments

Moments, few
Bring me back to you
Ochre leaves take lazy flight
Around your heeled feet, excite

I could despair
In this place, deprived now of your tint
The pixie-woven branches of the blossom tree
Are gnarled and barren, and they weep with me

Hold me, my darling
With your scent, with your love
And I’ll close my eyes to see you there
And take in all my heart can bear

And why not?
It was my favourite time
Your flushed cheeks in October’s glow
Your dress, the gentle lay of December snow

Yes, moments
All that remain
Hold dear! Keep them close
And in the dull winter, when we need them most

They are the forever that we promised.
