Love at Dusk

I looked carefully, staring out my bedroom window. Watching the sun set beyond the trees. I do this every evening before I go outside. They say it brings good luck to you. I'm not sure I believe it, but I do it anyway... I don't think I'll change my ways either. I crept down the stairs quietly not wanting to wake my family up. I slid no my jacket and opened the front door. Thank God it doesn't squeak like it used to. I shut it softly behind me and walked out beyond our yard. I went beyond the fences and posts. It had only been a few minutes. I finally came upon my favorite place in the whole world. My bench. It overlooks the lake and the backdrop of the sunset. I sat and enjoyed my long awaited peace. I long for this every day, and sometimes I have to bite my tongue so I don't tell anyone where I go at night. I closed my eyes and took in a deep breath. "Peaceful isn't it?" a voice said startling me. I sat up instantly. "No, don't go. I'm sorry... I didn't mean to startle you" a boy my age walked over to me and sat down. "I come here all the time. Usually there's no one here. This is my favorite place in the whole world" he said softly. "Mine too" I said relaxing. "Name's Brandon, I'm 16... What about you?" he said holding out his hand. I grasped it. It was warm and soft, like mine. It was almost like he had dipped in in soft warm honey before he had come. "My names Dusk... I know, funny right? Considering I'm out at dusk..." I said smiling. He laughed along with me. "I like your name. I could whisper it all day" He sighed peacefully. I felt warm as he gave me the compliment. "Thank you" I said smiling at him. We sat in quiet for awhile longer until I caught him staring at me "What?" I  said  "Nothing, it's just... You're gorgeous" he said in disbelief. I laughed quietly "Thank you Brandon" Brandon reached for my chin and tilted it upwards. Drawing me in I took a deep breath. "Brandon..." I started to say but his lips captured mine in a tender kiss. I felt wanted here. I felt safer then I have here in years. When he pulled away I didn't want this night to end. I found forever love at Dusk.
