Is it time for him to walk away? Can he muster the strength to stay? He gave and gave, exposed his heart standing in the open naked ashamed embarrassed but hopeful. The sweat of all his effort beading from his brow. The scars from the pain from being hurt so many times shinning in the sunlight. But.. the hope is there, being rejected he holds his head low. But he knows he can't give up. The one person who he opened up to..the one he finally trusted with his heart and his pain is standing on the other side of the door. He is totally exposed and vulnerable. As much as he wants to hide..he can't. He flashes back to all the laughs. He thinks of her smiles and remembers the sweet aroma rising from her soft creamy skin. So he raises his hand to knock on the door but there is no answer. He can hear her on the other side but she doesn't answer the door. So he knocks again and still no reply. He knocks and knocks and she won't answer the door. He thinks back to her telling him how much she loves him and how she is trapped and controlled by a man who treats her like an object. She hates his control and his manipulation and lies yet she won't answer the door and escape the one who has her trapped inside. He cries out her name as he knocks one more time. Still no answer. He stands there naked to the world exposed. His heart wrenching in pain. But the love that he has will not let him leave or take that first step away. He thought of her his entire life. Wondering if he would be so lucky as to meet his soul mate. Then the jealousy and the sadness that he wasted all those years looking for her and when he finds her she is with a monster who doesn't love her doesn't appreciate her and doesn't care about her. But she won't open the door because of fear of the unknown. She accepts her place on her side of the door even with a broken heart. But curiosity lingers inside her so once in a while she will slip a note under the door to tell him she loves him as she leans on the door pressing her body tightly against it wanting to feel his embrace again knowing he is right there on the other side. He opens the note and is happy and sad confused and in pain. Does she really love him? Is it guilt that compels her to slide him the note? He turns his head and looks at the path he took to get to where he is. All he has done and all he has sacraficed.. He pauses and wonders. Was I fooled? Was I played? Does she love me? Then he thinks of all the times he held her close and looked into her hazel eyes as she told him she loves him... So he knocks on the door one more time.
