Four Feet On

First I lifted one foot,

then I lifted two,

how the other two got there

I haven’t got a clue.

I suspect that you’re behind it,

with that bag of treats;

for them I would do anything,

even move my feet.

So now I am up on it,

there must be something more

or why would you have wanted

my feet on it and not the floor.

You move around behind me,

you give a little shove;

I find myself now moving

and look to the sky above.

You wove some kind of magic,

for I’m moving at a pace,

but the strangest thing about it

is my feet just stay in place.

Now the speed has picked right up,

my view begins to blur,

I’m still up here just balancing

though things have become a blur.

I hear a shout, you’ve called my name,

Jump off!” I hear you yelling;

is this some more of your new game?

I have no way of telling.

My little legs, take action,

and sideways I do leap,

my legs are small, the speed was fast --

I sit down in a heap.

But that board that I was standing on,

it failed, did not respond,

and now I see it vanishing

in to the neighbor’s pond.

I trot to you quite happily,

I’ll have another go,

but this time I’d prefer it

if we stayed that bit more slow.
