The sound of music rings around him again. Alcohols at the bar tempted him again. Brightly lit dance floors blinded him again. A packet in his pocket and a bottle in his hand again.

He sat, emotionless, bags under his brown eyes shadowed by his dirty lavender hair. His gloomy gaze judgingly observes his surroundings. The obnoxious laughter of thugs doesn’t bother him. He sipped then chugged down alcohol without care.

The thugs glared at him, unpleased.

“… Being hard eh?” one asked with intimidation

He answered with emotionless eyes

 “You're a tough guy, eh?”

He looked down apathetically, then chugged more alcohol

Irritated the thug leaned, eying him. “Hey… don’t ignore me eh.”

He lifelessly brought down the bottle, dismissively

“You shit!" The thug raised his fist and sent it towards him

The thug’s buddies watched as he fell, causing a commotion.

He sat on the ground, touching his cheek with a decent bruise. The thug became more irritated by his attitude but before any more mess, the bouncer kicked them all out.

He walked away like nothing happened.

As he reached his apartment, he noticed a car parked outside, however, he couldn’t be bothered. He entered, finished what was left of the bottle and placed it on the bedside.

Sitting on the bedside, he buried his face on his hand as a depressing feeling began consuming him.

He lifted his head and looked around his messy room. Dirty clothes and cupped noodles littered the floor, browning bed sheets and empty bottles. Then he saw a packet under a drawer.

He stood to pick it up and sat on the floor leaning to the wall. Taking out the powder in it, he rolled it on paper.

“Nathan! Where have-” a girl stormed in. She stopped, frowning, when she saw him lighting a rolled paper. With anger, she rushed towards him and slapped it away.

“Nathan!” she angered “You need to listen to us! We’re trying to help you but you also need to help yourself!”

He turned away, no response…

The girl crouched and touched the bruise on his cheek “… Please. We are thankful you shared how you felt but… this isn’t right”

Looking back at her, he saw her, smiling sadly a tear at the corner of her eye.

Suddenly she wrapped her arms around him as tears rolled down her cheeks. “Nathan please… we miss you. The you we went to high school with, we want it back. Please, don’t lose yourself, I-we don’t want to lose you.” She sniffled. “I’ll be here for you.”

Still unable to say anything he just closed his eyes. Hearing her made guilt and regret pile up as he thought. How? How many times has she cried because of him? Having no idea made tears roll down his cheeks.

“I’m sorry Sandra… I-I couldn’t stop… now you’re here, but I know when morning comes and you’re gone, they’ll come back… I’m sorry, but…thank you…” he apologized with an inaudible voice.
