Sweetness is Water-Soluble, c. 2018
Tissue paper on card stock
19cm x 10.7cm (7.5in x 4.2in)

In the center of the off-white expanse, two rosebuds lie next to each other, connected by a common stem. One rose appears to be in full bloom, while its sibling remains a closed bud, evoking a sense of connection despite the flowers' marked differences and isolation on the canvas. The medium used to craft this piece, tissue paper, is water-soluble - it dissolves when exposed to water. The title of the piece reflects this fragility, and is perhaps also a comment on the emotions associated with affection, calling to attention the sweet feeling the pink of the roses conjures.
