The tired oxen with split hooves

a tired jaw with

too many raindrops fighting

the grain

wheat fields & cowboys

a black Bison kisses the rain

with black lips and pink tongue

son of a gun

farmers with wrinkles skin

and a short bout with melanoma

still wear straw hats

always live to 101

like Grandma Moses

they stop and smell the roses

Morgan silver dollars in

a cowboy's hand change

too young for Alcoholic's Anonymous

that was near the Great Depression

the farmer rests in

his daily depression

now the Bison scratches the earth

fleeting glimpse of a new day

green birth

no pollution

a real solution

the oxen keeps track

of hard days, cold nights

rain on his pigskin

a tough fight
