The Visionary

He lights a cigarette,

It burns through his jeans

Into his crotch,

And wakes him

From a fluid kingdom

Of objects multiplying.

Growing like when

He was child,

When he would lay

In bed

Like an astute astronomer.

He would observe

And chart,

The specks of colour

Patterning the gulf

Of darkness,

The fairydust

Tingling his skin.

He has regained that ability,

Now that he is an old chinaman

In a opium den.

Read the tranquility

Of his face.

Read the colours

Of his face.

His visions are more complex,

Now he observes

Vast organic machinery,

Cities of chains and pulleys,

Wheels upon wheels,

Huge piercing vegatation,

Vast concrete deserts,

Wilderness composed

From newspaper clippings,

Flesh,

Bone,

Steel,

Orgainic computers

Cardboard power plants,

Radio-active light,

Magazine headlines,

Digital orgasms,

Addiction and

Death.
