What's a writer to do?

Bright early morning, the sun up high

But all I have is sleep in my eye

I stayed up to a wee little hour

Hoping that my imagination would flower

Still, the dishes needed washing

And the dog needed watering

The lunches needed making

And the laundry needed doing

As the night progressed, after a long day’s work

I still had ahead of me a long night’s work

And when all was done, I still had to shower

So when the clock struck the midnight hour

I found that the seed was still not a flower

And so I was struck with the age-old writers’ quandary:

Write or Sleep?

But don’t forget the laundry!
