Making It Personal

When it comes to making comments on members posts what is it that makes a few, a very select few, turn round and use the opportunity to make a personal attack? Even harder to understand is how can you attack someone personally when you do not even know them?

Today a line was stepped over, when it was suggested that I might have cursed my children. If I choose to write of witchcraft, of horror, obsession, of madness, that is my right. I can write about anything, within certain boundaries, the same as anyone else can. Does that make me a bad person? Of course not. No more than writing about romance and beaches, princesses and princes, makes someone a good one.

Intolerance, is that what it is? But there is plenty for them to be intolerant about so why pick on me. If I read something and I don’t like it, I don’t comment. If I don’t want to read something I leave it alone. I would never have considered attacking someone through their writing, trying to tell them what they can and cannot say.

This is the second time this week that I have come under attack. Is it the number of reads I get that targets me? Is it the number of posts? I have always looked on Booksie as a home from home, a place where I could be myself without suffering any condemnation from doing so. Now, I am starting to wonder if that is true.

All because of the selfish, condemnatory and accusatory nature of just a couple of members.
