J.D. Martinez broke the hearts of Blue Jays fans last night at the Rogers Centre in Toronto with a three run homer in the fifth inning.

 

Boston Red Sox's J.D. Martinez hurt the Toronto Blue Jays last night by hitting a fifth inning three run homer at the Roger's Centre in Toronto.

The Red Sox defeated the Jays 5-4 after Toronto went up 2-0 in the second inning.

Teoscar Henandez scored on a sacrifice fly by Kevin Pillar in the bottom of the first inning.

Devon Travis made it 2-0 Jays in the bottom of the second inning by hitting a solo home run.

Andrew Benintendi made it 2-1 when he drove in Tzu-Wei Lin at the top of the third inning.

Justin Smoak put the Jays ahead by two runs again in the bottom of the third inning by hitting a solo home run.

Mitch Moreland scored on a sacrifice fly by Rafael Devers at the top of the fourth inning to make it 3-2.

Martinez made it 5-3 in the fifth inning.

Toronto scored another run in the seventh inning , but it wasn't enough.

Martinez went two for four at the plate and collected three RBIs.

Boston's starting pitcher, Chris Sale gave up four hits, three earned runs, and struck out four batters in six innings pitched.

Jay's starter, Marco Estrada had a really rough night on the mound last night, giving up eight hits, five earned runs, and struck out five batters in five innings pitched.

Toronto kicks off a three game weekend series at home tonight, facing the Texas Rangers.
