When the black rose falls off and flies

The path around begins to rot

Every living thing within miles dies

It once was red but by misery shot

Tainted the earth at the end of its life

But far from as much as mankinds strife

The causes of which were spite and greed

You get what you want but not what you need

Blinded by poison all around

we lose sight of what matters

Deaf to the reasoning sound

We hear only what shatters

Numbed by the darkness inside

By the laws of hate we abide.

We blame the protectors

and the bringers of hope

when we take in the defectors

We can no longer cope

For what once gave us purpose

warmth and meaning

Is now gone.
