Her Mirror

She stands there in front of it,

is this what she sees?

Believing she’s irresistible,

attracting men like bees

around a scented bloom,

when they do nothing more

then pick their own sweet doom.

She sees herself as ‘romance’,

one that is so fine,

reality would show how much

deception is there in this crime.

Her mirror is a liar,

her belief borders on insane

as she tries to go and capture

youth she’ll never see again.

Poor woman, trapped forever

in fairy tales and summer wine,

deluded from the truth of

her far from sweet decline.
