Heaven Immutable
Heaven immutable
Is shown in a pretty postcard,
An electric vision,
Remote and twisting
Like a corkscrew
Through the great spiral
Of Andromeda.
One hundred thousand exploding suns,
Or candlelight burning
In a vacant allotment,
The light spinning
Like a roulette wheel,
Gambling with phantom nights,
Filled with mysterious eggs,
Dangerous billard balls,
Atomic reactions,
Clouds of gas.
The nebula
Fills the room,
Startrails show up
On time,
Their exposures
Spinning into the centre
Of the amusement park.
