Do you realize
That you hold my heart
In your hands?
Do you enjoy
That you could destroy me
If you close your fist?
Do you know
That I would follow you
Off a cliff?
I saw you today
I saw you smile
And I thought it was the most beautiful thing
In the world
I went home today
I closed my eyes
I shut the door
Do you have any idea
That with one word
You could change my mind?
How can you know
That you can abort this disaster
With your words?
Silence, they say
Is worth a thousand words
I wonder what words
You're saying to me now
Did you know
That I trusted you?
Did you know
That I respected you?
Did you know
That you're the only one
I've ever trusted like that?
Ironic
You have made a currency of my trust
It was not worth this much
Until you spent it
You were with me
Every moment
Every instant
You were there
Shame you couldn't stay for the aftermath

WOW really liked this good job

It is so hard to trust because of just what you have written of here -- betrayal. Excellent poem.

I felt the same way for months after my friend went radio silent on me. But you realize at one point that you can’t stop trusting because one person broke your trust…that was their loss, ruining your friendship. Also, it helps that I fell in love with the guy, and a year later, his betrayal doesn’t change that at all.
