Sun Lover

She’s waiting now

just for the sun;

a bit of flirting

oh, what fun.

Bottle blonde,

beauty faded,

in her eyes

she’s far from jaded.

To the beach

she’ll pick a spot,

attention seeking?

Yes, a lot.

She thinks she paints

a pretty picture

but others see

a simple fixture;

 one who clings

on to her youth

instead of seeing

what’s the truth.

Pickings are slim,

the men, no lookers,

not for her

for she’s no hooker.

In the heat

she starts to doze,

the sea creeps in,

sleep not knows.

Here it comes,

a mighty wave,

washed ashore

as nature’s slave.

It hits her square,

it hits her hard

for dignity

there’s no regard.

A soggy mess

a beached whale--

 she sees a mermaid

with no tail.

Others snigger,

start to laugh,

a fitting end,

she had her bath.
