Ink

I can see you, you know, although you are unaware of my presence. You sit at your table with a needle beside you. What do you mean to do?

Some sewing perhaps, but I don’t think so. In fact I can see every single thought that makes it’s way through your mind.

You take the needle, press it to your finger-tip. It should be drawing blood by now, at least a tiny drop of red. But what appears is putrid green, the venom that flows through your veins instead of blood.

Careful now, don’t waste a drop! Squeeze and collect it in a tiny little pot. There, that should do. Now, put on a band-aid, quickly; it would not do to let one drop of that venom go to waste. After all, you have so much correspondence to attend to.

Picking up your pen you dip it first in ink, then gently suck up a tiny drop of your own personal poison. Carefully, you begin to write. You never were much talented in composing letters.

There! One done, signed with an added dash of venom. How many more have you got to write? After all, you are amassing enemies at quite a rate these days.

You lick the envelope closed with that forked tongue and toxic saliva. Perhaps the invention of letter-openers has passed your attention.

Just ink for the address. You would not want to infect the deliverer, would you? Actually, truth to tell, you probably couldn’t care.

Another piece of paper, another note. It is going to take a long time and by the time you have extracted sufficient venom to write them all you are feeling kind of weak.

And all that effort is for nothing. I have read all the addresses and I have the antidote!
