500 Days--'The Powder Keg And The Flame'

Verse:
Light the fuse at both ends,
sorrow ensues, message you send,
and the flame jogs in place,
then the bomb explodes in your face.
Pre-Chorus:
Back and forth the volley's fly.
I read your words, shrug and sigh.
Verse:
Neither one is going to change the other's mind,
there's no common ground that we will find.
'Round and 'round on this idealogic carousel.
Shot in the back even before the starting bell.
Pre-Chorus:
At twenty paces, turn and fire.
You see normal, while I see a liar.
Chorus:
It's the powder keg and the flame,
back where we started, it's always the same.
Tired of dancing in this marathon of wills.
Of this back and forth, I've had my fill.
Verse:
You train and you train for the great debate,
several million dollars and an eon late.
Each brought only words to this 12-gauge fight,
useless ammunition in the words we write.
Repeat Second Pre-Chorus:
Repeat Chorus:
END
