“Do you have any questions?”
Like an out of work tour guide,
The grand Cougar gatekeeper,
The one person between you,
High school, college, the future.
The smile falters, then brightens,
His gold name badge grins out garishly:
A medal of honour,
A laurel of bravery,
Screaming all too proudly that he is,
Volunteer of the minute.
The creases in his forehead cut deep,
And he yawns.
But the admissions officer
Never admits,
He doesn’t care.
Because no, you don’t have any questions.
