i haven't forgotten
about the seashells you brought for me last summer
or the myriad of photographs you took and displayed
proudly, like your children, over my living room floor.

i haven't forgotten about the candyfloss we shared
laying together on that wind-cooled beach
the sun hidden behind gray clouds as if it was
ashamed it intruded on us.

i haven't forgotten about the drive home
the roads soaked with rain, heaven itself crying
almost like it knew that we were driving
towards the end of our relationship.

i wonder if you brought him seashells this summer
i wonder if you share ice cream with him on a
blazing-hot beach
the sun shining bright, a spotlight on the happy couple
i wonder if some day i will find someone too.
