Once, I awoke in a haze. The daylight stunned me with its gaze.

I felt the heat, crisp on my skin. Shaded eyes were rather cool, but stinging hairs not so good.

Every motion brought the pain. Of sunlight’s burn to my brain.

Showering water, cool and clean. Soothes the fire and kills the sting.

Red as a lobster, boiled and baked, I wished I had just stayed awake.

Poked and prodded by those I love. I’ll kill them I swear by the God above.

Tender and sore, walking around. Trying to find AC that cools me down.

Wrapped in lettuce, bathed in aloe,  Trying all treatments that just seem shallow

Three days later, lotion out. Skin keeps flaking around the house.

Peeling and panting, I pick and shred. Dead skin layers with my hands.

Icky and strange for the next four days, I think I’ve beaten my sun-kissed ways.

Never fall asleep in the sun, my friends. Ha, Ha, Ha.
