“Government is instituted for the common good; for the protection, safety, prosperity, and happiness of the people; and not for profit, honor, or private interest of any one man, family, or class of men,” - John Adams. The America I believe in is free, equal, safe, and always finds a way to overcome its challenges. America has been thriving since they got independence from Britain in 1776. We as a nation have overcome many challenges that we faced. We pulled through and prospered.

Ever since the making of the United states we fought wars to be able to keep our liberties. The first people in this nation fought the english which outnumbered them three to one, but America pulled through showing there is nothing we wouldn't do for our freedom. American’s have even fought their brothers over matters that faced their country from the inside. Slavery was one thing many American’s had different opinions on. Some people believed slavery was wrong because the United States was built on that of, men and women were created equal. Others believed slavery was needed to do the things they couldn’t. Slavery took rights away from many African American’s. This being a problem the people who opposed slavery fought for the slaves to have those rights. Like stated in the declaration of Independence, “all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights….” America is a safe and equal place that will prosper no matter the challenges it faces.

My friend’s great grandfather, who served in World War II once said , “ To fight, you must know why you are fighting.” Ever since that day I wondered what do we fight for? Now I know, we fight for the safety of our people, and for liberty, we fight for people who can’t but still what to change. We fight for freedom. That’s the America I believe in and that’s the America we are.
