A short story I wrote for a writing class. Inspired by a picture of a young man playing the piano at a public park.

The street was crowded, more than he had expected when he left his safe home.
People were being loud. He walked by two girls who were laughing loudly >>Are they laughing at me? << he kept his head down and hold on to his backpack. The anxiety filled him up with discomfort and he knew he should have stayed home.
All the sudden it was standing there, in the middle of the street. Big, shiny and black. People were walking around it and ignored it, they were busy with their cellphones and their rushed conversations. He stood before it, the temptations tinkled in his fingers. Like a wave the courage flushed in over him, he dropped the backpack on the ground and sat down. He moved his fingers slowly over the keys and started playing. He got lost in the music, forgot where he was at and that he was surrounded by people, he didn’t notice that people stopped and stared at him, he only felt the music.
