To me, you are the best woman on the planet;

For what I am today, is what you made.

Like the strongly held seeds of a pomegranate,

You always held onto pieces of my heart that were frayed.

Returning home late, I’ve made you cry a lot -

Standing on the street in the middle of the rainy night,

Your hands trembling, holding the umbrella with distraught;

You stood there to check if I was alright.

In trying to be a better person but not a good child,

I was wrong while you patiently waited

And just smiled - smiled

Till I learnt my lessons that I hated.

You never found your me time

But time to enquire if I ate or slept well.

Never recognised for your overtime,

If you are to stay this way, I will rebel;

For on this day, I need you to realise

That you should place yourself as a top priority.

Empower that woman within you and build strong ties

with her, it’s time she became the authority.
